Cynthia Ann Padilla

June 6, 1946 — March 23, 2025

Denver, CO

Cynthia Ann Padilla passed away on March 23, 2025, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 78. Born on June 6, 1946, she was the beloved daughter of James Padilla Sr. and Beatrice (Chavez) Padilla.

Cynthia was a beloved mother to her three daughters: Lori Chacon (Lorenzo), Roberta Turner (Dwayne), and Tina Munoz (Scott). She shared a close bond with her siblings, James Padilla Jr. and Victoria Padilla (Pedro).

She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Ronnie, Jordan (Brittany), Brianne (Matt), Lance (Felicia), Ritchie, Ciara (Shyanne), lil G (Jada), Larissa, Cienna, Taryn, Heaven, and Brooke. Cynthia also cherished her great-grandchildren: Vann, Lilymai, MarieJordyn, lil Jordan, Mattox, Armani, Luciano, Emiliano, Londynn, Lily, and Yulienna.

She was a treasured aunt to Beatrice Gauthier, husband Chris and their children Kristina, Chantel, and Christopher Gauthier; as well as to Michael Fishkin.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents James and Beatrice Padilla; her brother James Jr.; and her sister Victoria Padilla.

A graduate of Cathedral High School, Cynthia later pursued Chicano Studies at Metropolitan State College. She dedicated many years of service to the City of Denver through her work with the Denver Housing Authority before retiring.

Known for her vibrant purple hair, an ever-present cup of coffee in her hand, and her best friend Maryjane in the other. Cynthia’s colorful personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a special fondness for The Wizard of Oz and unicorns—symbols that reflected her whimsical spirit and joyful heart. A gifted cook who found joy in preparing meals for others. She was very well known for her love of the Denver Broncos and her need to remind her son-in-law Lorenzo that his team (Raiders) SUCK!

Neighborhood children were drawn to Cynthia’s welcoming presence—her home became a familiar place where many felt safe and cared for. She became a second mother to many, including Lynnette St. John and Julie Peters-Sylvain. She made friends wherever she went with ease and sincerity.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
