Helen J. Ewing

June 24, 1932 — October 10, 2025

HELEN EWING (Lombardi, DiTolla) of Westminster, Wheat Ridge, Denver

Aunt Helen departed this life on earth on October 10, 1925. She was preceded in death by many including her parents Mike DiTolla and Josephine Stone; her siblings in chronological order Angeline Marchese (1910), Mary Mapley (1912), Roxy (1913), Rose Marisco (1914), Geraldine LaGuardia (1916), Della Walters (1918), Nettie Carlson (1920); plus husbands Ralph Lombardi and Milo Ewing, and her beloved only child Sheryl Lombardi-Augustine (1952).

Helen was a skilled homemaker and cook, preparing many special Italian holiday meals and desserts. She worked at K-Mart, Fehrer’s Flowers, and restaurants, Three Sons and LaBates. She was active in the Catholic Churches of Mount Carmel and Saint Catherine's, and she participated in the Christian Women's group and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Helen and her second husband, Milo, maintained many high school and neighborhood friendships, and they gathered nearly every Saturday after Mass to play cards and eat desserts. This group also spent time in the mountains biking, hiking, and having fun.

Helen is survived by niece Loretta (Richard) Johnston and her son David Debus, who both spent decades of nearly every Sunday and holiday ensuring the Ewings were engaged in activities. Other relatives include Lucille Matthews (Texas), who saw her aunt regularly until her Texas move, and her niece Debbie Fenton (Arvada), who was of great assistance and support in recent years. Additional out-of-town survivors include Rosemary Hartman (Don) of Texas and Gerry Ganatos of California, who kept in regular contact with his aunt. She was also survived by numerous local and distant cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Milo’s daughters, Valerie Wickey (Brighton) and Sandi Ewing (Westminster), have been incredibly supportive of situations related to the Ewings and their needs, especially since entering San Marino independent living arrangements nearly six years ago. Their support was unwavering and helpful.

Special thanks are extended to the staff at San Marino (Arvada) for their TLC, patience, and tolerance, and to Choice Hospice, especially nurse Tom. Staff worked diligently to keep Helen comfortable throughout her time at San Marino, especially in the past few months..

Friends and family will be warmly invited for lunch as announced after the services.
