Lawrence August Medina

Lawrence August Medina, 70, of Aurora, CO, went home to be with our Lord on July 14, 2025. Lawrence was surrounded by close family and his dearest friend.

Lawrence was born on August 10, 1954, in Walsenburg, Colorado, to Tranquilino “Frank” and Della (Ortiviz) Medina. He graduated from Walsenburg Jr./Sr. High School, (John Mall High School).

Lawrence dedicated his career to helping others, spending 29 years working for the Department of Youth Services before retiring in 2008. after retirement he remained committed to working with at-risk youth.

In June of 1991, Lawrence met the love of his life, Lorraine “Laurie.” They were married on August 1, 1998, and shared 34 wonderful years together filled with love.

Lawrence was a passionate sports fan, especially of the Denver Broncos. More than anything, Lawrence cherished his time with his loved ones. He especially adored his grandchildren. Attending their sporting events, taking them on outings, and simply spending time with them brought him immense joy. Their laughter, milestones, and presence were the light of his life, and he took great pride in being a part of their lives.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Tranquilino & Della, siblings; Frank & Michael Medina, Lilly Lopez, Hope Aragon, Delores “Lola” Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lawrence is survived by wife Lorraine “Laurie”, children; Crystal (Seth) Wood, Annemarie “Annie” (Angelo) Trujillo and Christopher Sr. (Jelisa) Trujillo, grandchildren; Alexis (Corey), Isaiah, Isaac, Ashlynn, Christopher Jr., Sienna, Ava, Avayah, Ahvianna, Matthew and Aubrey, great-grandson; Jameson, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Rosary will be held on July 24th at 11a.m. at Latina Funerals & Cremations 3020 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80211. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church 830 Elm St, Denver, CO 80220 with reception to follow.
