Obituary

Nicolas “Nico” Martinez Moreno, age 71, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. He was born on April 18, 1954, and lived a life defined by faith, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

Nicolas was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Maria del Socorro “Socorrito” Moreno Reyes and Ezequiel Martinez Silva.

He is survived by his daughters, Char Anna "Socorro" Martinez Flippo (husband Bill) and Maria Isabel (husband Jason); his cherished life partner, Delia “Lely” Limon Becerra, of Mexico; and his six grandchildren, Shawn Flippo, Nathan Flippo, Hunter Flippo, Mikah Gay, Maylie Gay and Tristan Sheriff, who were a constant source of pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Socorro Martinez Moreno, Martha Martinez Moreno, Mario Martinez Moreno, Guillermo Martinez Moreno, Ismael Martinez Moreno, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nicolas was a very spiritual man whose faith guided his life and values. He believed deeply in God, family, and living with purpose, humility, and gratitude. His faith was evident in the way he worked, loved, and quietly served those around him.

A hardworking man to his core, Nicolas always kept busy. Whether caring for his yard, maintaining vehicles, or tending to daily tasks, he found fulfillment in honest work. He retired from RTD (Regional Transportation District), where he worked as a landscaper, taking pride in keeping spaces beautiful and well cared for.

In his later years, Nicolas dedicated much of his time and energy to the upkeep of his property in Nazas, Durango, Mexico, working tirelessly to create a home for himself and his family. It was a labor of love and a reflection of his lifelong commitment to providing and building something meaningful for those he loved.

Nicolas will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his spiritual heart, and his unwavering devotion to family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the land he cared for, and the family who will forever hold him close.

Funeral services will be held on February 6, 2026, at Latina Funerals & Cremations in Denver, Colorado. A viewing will begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by services starting at 5:30 p.m., including a rosary and a short service to follow.
