Rufa ‘Tessie’ Fernandez passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the age of 75.
After a long battle with lung cancer, she died peacefully with her beloved husband Richard, children and grandchildren by her side.
Tessie was born on November 7, 1947, in Bohol, Philippines.
In 1970 Tessie and Richard met in the Phillippens, shortly thereafter they had started their family and moved to the United States. Tessie started working at the Hilton in downtown Denver shortly after coming to Denver. She had remained at the hotel through many hotel changes and ended up retiring from the Marriot after a successful 35 years of service.
Tessie prided herself on her most important accomplishment being her family. Tessie is survived by her husband Richard, her 2 children, Anna Lisa (David), and Michele (Donny). 6 grandchildren, Christopher ‘Fear’ (Miranda), Ryan (Audrey), Donny Jr., Monea, Kimberlee, Jordynn. 4 great grandchildren Kane, Riley Tess, Camden, and Kennedy. Brothers and sisters, Raymond (Debbie), Tony (Lydia), Mary predecease (Ralph), and Loretta and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother Rebecca (Margarito), mother-in-law Frances Fernandez.
The funeral services will be at Church of All Saints Catholic Church, 2559 S Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80219, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, Rosary at 9:30am, Mass at 10am. Precession to Fort Logan National Cemetery 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236. Reception will follow from 1-4pm at VFW 4747 W Colfax Ave, Denver CO 80204.
