Adolph Manuel Garcia Sr.

1940 ~ 2021 (age 80)

Obituary

On April 24, 2021, Adolph Manuel Garcia Sr., 80, returned to his heavenly home.  His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Adolph was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on August 3, 1940 to Edward and Mollie Garcia.  He was the fourth born of eight children.  He moved to Denver, CO when he was 12 years old.  He followed in his two older brothers, Dave and Jr’s, footsteps, and began reading blueprints at 15 years old.  By 17, he became a structural steel layout man and foreman.  On the side, he owned his own business, making iron security doors, window guards, and iron fences.  He was crafty with his iron, he would make his kids piggy banks, weight sets, and even a bench press table.  Some of his bigger accomplishments were all the turquoise colored beams on the Speer Blvd bridge, the Pepsi Center, and Ocean Journey, also known today as The Aquarium.  Let us not forget his love for boxing.  Adolph was a golden glove boxer who was one fight away from making it pro when his older brother, Jr, suffered a tragic accident.  He didn’t give up completely on his love for the sport.  He taught his sons and daughters how to box along with all the neighborhood kids in Curtis Park and Five Points.  For fun, he enjoyed playing handball and tennis.  Let’s not forget the long nights of playing cards.  Poker was his favorite.

Adolph was blessed with a large and loving family.  He married his true love and best friend, Susan Garcia.  They spent 45 beautiful years together.

Adolph is survived by his wife, Susan; his sons Adolph Jr., Ronny, and Eric Garcia; his daughters Bernice, Lucero, and Amalia Garcia; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and his brother Larry Garcia.  He is proceeded in death by his parents Edward and Mollie Garcia, siblings Dave Garcia, Jr Garcia, Delores Baca, Joann Garcia, Ida Garcia, Lorraine Garcia, and son Randolph Garcia.
