Rigoberto Garcia-Aguirre

Life can change in an instant. Sorrow, fortune, tragedy, happiness, and death are all part of life. “Son cosas de la vida,” as my dad used to say. The unexpected has a tendency of catching us off guard in the most surreal and unseen ways. That, the unexpected, does very well.

Rigoberto Garcia Aguirre came to the United States as a naive 15 year old teenager. He came to the States in the early 70’s, a time when people were realizing things weren’t right. Ya'll remember the 70’s right? Rigoberto would come to be known as Jalisco, “Adan”, Bigotes, Rigo, friend, and eventually dad.

Jalisco came from Rancho La Leona, Municipal de Jesus Maria, Jalisco in search of a better life. My father traveled the United States in search of work and his purpose in life. To name a few states, Illinois, Tennessee, Oregon, California, Georgia, New Mexico all had the honor of experiencing my father. Ultimately, Colorado's majestic mountains captivated his soul and tied him down, he had found his home.

God blessed Bigotes with children of his own and some little ones that were not his own. Nevertheless he loved us all. Bigotes lived his life helping others; even if they went out of their way to be cruel to him or use him. He would say, "Esta bien." He was kindness incarnated.

“Adan” was a hard working man, he worked most of his life in construction. He made hanging drywall look easy and effortless. “Adan” loved farm life and always had goats, cows, pigs, and chickens. He didn’t like to be in the city, much less in city traffic.

As fate would have it, his life changed in an instant on September 2, 2021. Rigo was on his way home from work on Highway 50 in Pueblo when he was struck by a car heading the wrong way. He died on impact ending his time here on earth. This accident would have never happened if that driver was on the correct side of the highway. The lives of the people who knew and loved him changed in an instant.

Rigo is survived by, Rigoberto Garcia Jr., 39, Katalina Macedonia Garcia, 28, Fernando Adan Moises Garcia, 27, Diego Martin Garcia, 25, and Michael David Joseph Garcia, 13. His bonus children are Victoria Chacon, 46, Valeriano David Urbina, 23, Elias Nunez, 13, and Zaniah Guadalupe Nunez, 4. His grandkids are Gabriel Philip Pope-Garcia and Abdullah Bensayad.

The death of Bigotes left a void in the heart and soul of those he left behind. A lot of things arise from death; conflict, emotions, peace.

God felt it was time to call Rigoberto Garcia Aguirre home. God bless those who dwell in the loss of our dad’s life. We lost a humble and great man. We want to honor his memory by treating each other how our dad would treat people; with compassion, empathy, and love. Let us remember him as he lived, not as he died.

There will be a Visitation on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by a Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm at Latina Funerals & Cremations (3020 Federal Blvd., Denver, Colorado). A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, 11:00am at St. Cajetan Catholic Church (299 S. Raleigh Street, Denver, Colorado), there will be a Visitation prior to Mass at 10:00am. Graveside Services will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park (26624 N Turkey Creek Rd, Evergreen, Colorado). The family also invites you to a reception after the graveside service from 4:00pm to 10:00pm at 4688 West Alameda Ave., Denver, Colorado).
