Sending Your Loved One Home

Latina’s International Transportation Services

There are many reasons why people leave their home country. Most often it is to seek a better life and financial opportunities to help their families back home. But living far from one’s country of origin can make things even more difficult than it already is when that loved one dies.

The questions swirling around one’s head in the midst of grief can feel overwhelming. How do you honor and grant the deep-rooted wishes of the deceased to be buried back home? Where do you hold services? How do they get home? Where do you even begin? As the anthem for this sorrowful predicament says “México lindo y querido, si muero lejos de aquí, que digan que estoy dormido y que me traigan aquí…”.

It is for this, and many other reasons, that it is important to families to find a funeral home with extensive experience in the transportation of the deceased and can arrange the safe delivery of their loved one and provide peace of mind for the family. You have enough burdens to deal with during loss, and this should not be one of them.

Latina Funerals and Cremations specializes in international transportation to many countries. We keep close ties with the consulates of Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala, and we can arrange the transportation of your beloved deceased to other countries as well.

We fully understand that the idea of transporting the remains of a loved one back to their home can feel stressful, and that you want to be able to say goodbye in the most loving and respectful manner possible. Your loved one created a life here in Denver that included friends and family, and it is only natural that you want to give everyone the opportunity to pay their respects.

It may comfort you to know that you may hold any funeral services prior to sending your loved one home to be buried if you choose. This includes a traditional service, rosary, and viewing or wake. We can help you select a funeral home in Mexico (or elsewhere) to take your loved one into their care and to arrange for any service there.

For the transportation process, all we will need from you is the deceased’s birth certificate. We will then take care of all paperwork and work with the consulate to facilitate the process, as well as schedule the flight and arrange for pickup at the arrival airport. We stay in constant communication with the funeral home of your choice in the country of origin to arrange for the deceased’s body to be retrieved at the airport.

It is important to note that airlines will not release your loved one to anyone but a licensed funeral director. The entire process takes 1 to 2 weeks, from when you first request our services to the transportation of the deceased. We work diligently to prioritize and expedite this process in the timeliest manner possible. Your loved one will remain in our care until it is time for transport.

Although family members are not allowed to personally accompany the deceased as they are transported in the cargo bay, and are transported via different terminals, you can purchase a regular airline ticket/seat on a flight within the same timeframe. Upon arrival, the airport in Mexico (or country of origin) will release the body into the care of the funeral director within 4 to 5 hours of landing.

Saying goodbye to a loved one and preparing for their journey back home to their final resting place should be as uncomplicated as possible. At Latina Funerals and Cremations, we’ll make sure that that no matter where home is, your loved one can rest in peace in their native land, so you may have peace of mind.

Go en paz.
